greater arc injuries
Greater arc injuries are fractures that involve the wrist's zone of vulnerability that includes:
- radial styloid
- scaphoid
- capitate
- triquetrum
- ulnar styloid
Looking at a PA wrist radiograph the greater arc represents an arc from the radial to ulnar styoid that traverses the scaphoid, capitate and triquetrum.
The lesser arc sits within the greater arc, centered on the lunate; lesser arc injuries are pure ligamentous perilunate injuries.
