Pneumatic nerve root compression

Pneumatic nerve root compression is a term given nerve root compression due to a presence of a juxtadiscal herniated gas locule. It is not a common occurence . The gas locules in these instances typically arise from herniation of intradiscal gas which occurs as part of disc degenerative change. The gas locules are sometimes termed intraspinal epidural gas pseudocysts.
