Normal kidney size in children
The normal size of kidneys in children will naturally depend on the age and size of the child. Based on the children's ages normal average renal length on ultrasound are as follows:

2 months to 6 months | 5.7 cm | 2.2 inches |
6 months to 1 year | 6.2 cm | 2.5 inches |
1 year to 5 years | 7.3 cm | 3 inches |
5 years to 10 years | 8.5 cm | 3.5 inches |
10 years to 15 years | 10 cm | 4 inches |
above 15 years | similar to adults normal kidney size see normal kidney size in adults |
NB: the left kidney is usually slightly longer than the right.
