Friedrich disease
Friedrich disease is an eponymous name for osteonecrosis of the sternal end of the clavicle. It is a rare condition and documentation in the medical literature is scarce with most case reports dating from before 1990.
Epidemiology
It is more often encountered in children and adolescents .
Radiographic features
Radiograph and CT
Diffuse sclerosis of the clavicular head of the clavicle is the main finding . A central notch-like defect in the center of sternoclavicular articulation has also been described .
Treatment
It appears to be mostly a self-limited condition that can resolve spontaneously and responds to conservative treatment .
Differential diagnosis
The general differentials consideration are those of a sclerotic clavicle.
