Proximal gastric pouch dilatation
Proximal gastric pouch dilatation is one of the complications that can occur following a gastric lap band. In this situation, the proximal gastric pouch appears enlarged and has a post-procedural capacity exceeding the normal of 15-20 mL. A tight stoma with delayed gastric emptying may also be observed. Its incidence may be as high as 11% . This may occur with or without change in the angle of the band and in the absence of signs of obstruction.
