Paclitaxel Lungentoxizität

Paclitaxel lung toxicity is a from of drug induced lung disease that can precipitate following the use of paclitaxel which is a chemotherapeutic agent commonly used in the treatment of breast, ovarian, and non– small cell lung cancers.

Several forms have been described

• hypersensitivity reactions :
  • thought to occur in around 3-30% of treated patients
  • most frequently manifest as dyspnea, bronchospasm, urticaria, hypotension, and erythematous rashes
• acute bilateral pneumonitis 
  • thought to occur in less than 1% of patients receiving 3-hour infusions of paclitaxel
