Acetabular labral sulcus
An acetabular labral sulcus is type of normal variant seen as cleft like appearance on imaging. It forms where the labrum meets the adjacent articular cartilage. Several sulci can be identified which include
- several sublabral sulci
- posterosuperior ~ 48%
- anterosuperior ~ 44%
- anteroinferior ~ 4%
- posteroinferior ~ 4%
- transverse ligament-labral junction sulcus
- perilabral sulcus
Differential diagnosis
Consider
- acetabular labral tear: sulci have smooth labral edges, whereas labral tears tend to have irregular edges
