Adie syndrome is a rare condition which is most commonly seen in young females in their fourth decade of life .

Unilateral pupillary symptoms are more common than bilateral .
Pathology
It is thought to result form damage to the ciliary ganglion and the dorsal root ganglion by viral or bacterial infections, however there are idiopathic etiologies .
History and etymology
It was named after the British-Australian neurologist William John Adie (1886 - 1935) .
