Anterior medial malleolar artery
Anterior medial malleolar artery is the counterpart to the anterior lateral malleolar artery, and supplies the medial aspect of the ankle.
Gross anatomy
Origin and course
- branch of anterior tibial artery
- arises approximately 5 cm proximal to the ankle
- passes posterior to the tendons of extensor hallucis longus and tibialis anterior medial to the joint, where it joins branches of the posterior tibial and medial plantar arteries
Supply
- medial side of the ankle
