Candida Pneumonie
Candida pneumonia is form of pulmonary candidiasis where there is air space opacification due opportunistic infection by the fungus Candida albicans. It typically occurs in immunocompromised patients. Due to the organism normally being present as part of oro-pharyngeal flora the diagnosis is often difficult and endobronchial or transthoracic biopsy is required.
Radiographic features
It is not possible to confidently differentiate a candida pneumonia radiologically from other forms of pneumonia. It may present are multi-focal patchy air space opacification without a zonal predilection.
