Diffuse ground-glass nodules
Diffuse ground-glass nodules can arise from many causes. These include:
- infection
- atypical infections (especially in immunosuppressed patients)
- pulmonary herpes simplex infection
- pulmonary respiratory syncytial viral infection
- drug toxicity
- hypersensitivity pneumonitis
- respiratory bronchiolitis interstitial lung disease (RBILD)
- acute alveolar disease
- cryptogenic organizing pneumonia - may not be a dominant feature
- diffuse alveolar hemorrhage
- as an atypical presentation of pulmonary edema
- pulmonary manifestations of sarcoidosis
