digital radiography
Digital radiography is based on the use of discrete values in comparison to conventional radiography which uses analog/continuous values. It removes the requirement of dark room procedures.
Types
- computed radiography (CR)
- uses photostimulable phosphor plates (PSP) in cassettes
- direct digital radiography (DDR)
- no cassette
- uses direct or indirect flat panel detectors or charge coupled devices (CCDs)
- can be indirect or direct
