epiphyseales Equivalent

An epiphyseal equivalent refers to bones that are considered similar to the epiphyses and therefore have a similar list of diseases that cause pathology.

Examples include:

• patella
• calcaneum
• carpal bones
• greater and lesser trochanters
• most apophysis
