Extratesticular scrotal mass (differential)

Extratesticular scrotal masses (non-testicle and non-epididymis) are mostly mesenchymal in origin and benign .

Benign lesions

• lipoma (most common)
• leiomyoma of the scrotum
• neurofibroma
• granular cell tumor
• angiomyofibroblastoma-like tumor
• fibrous pseudotumor
• fibrous hamartoma of infancy

Malignant lesions

Malignant lesions of the scrotum are rare.

• metastasis
• liposarcoma
• leiomyosarcoma of the scrotum
• malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH)
• rhabdomyosarcoma
• primary dermal lesions extending into the deeper layers of the scrotum (e.g. melanoma)
