horizontal meniscal tear
A horizontal meniscal tear, also known as a cleavage tear, is a type of meniscal tear in which the tear is oriented horizontally, parallel to the tibial plateau. These tears may be difficult to visualize on arthroscopy.
Epidemiology
They usually tend to be degenerative with a greater occurrence in older individuals.

- it is considered the most common type of tear to be associated with a meniscal cyst
Radiographic features
MRI
Usually seen as region of signal alteration extending horizontally along the meniscus parallel to the tibial plateau. Associated parameniscal cysts may be present in some patients.
