Hyperechoic myometrial foci
Hyperechoic myometrial foci are sonographic observation where the myometrium contains numerous bright echogenic foci.
They can be observed in very different situations and the clinical context is vital in their interpretation.
Pathology
Recognized causes include
- intra-myometrial air:
- due to introduction of air bubbles following uterine arterial embolization
- due to air intravasation into the myometrium during sonohysterography
- intra-myometrial calcification
