Lateral talocalcaneal angle

The lateral talocalcaneal angle is drawn on a weightbearing lateral foot radiograph as the angle between the mid-talar axis and calcaneal inclination axis.

It should normally measure between 35° and 50°:

• <35°
  • hindfoot varus
  • congenital talipes equinovarus (clubfoot)
  • pes cavus
• >50°
  • hindfoot valgus
  • congenital verticle talus
  • skewfoot deformities
  • pes planus
