Moulage sign (bowel)

The moulage sign is related to sprue, in particular celiac disease. It occurs where there is a dilated jejunal loop with complete loss of jejunal folds. It is said to appear like a tube into which wax has been poured.

History and etymology

Moulage (French: casting/molding) is the art of applying mock injuries to aid in the education of medical emergency teams. It was used as early as the renaissance when wax figures were used.
