Multiple regression analysis

Multiple regression analysis is a commonly used statistical technique in radiology research. It allows the examination of the relationship between multiple variables in a quantifiable manner.

This technique is often used where there are multiple explanations (independent variables / co-variates) for an outcome (dependent variable). There are number of different types of multiple regression analyzes depending on the outcome type:

• outcome is a continuous variable: multiple linear regression analysis
• outcome is a dichotomous variable: multiple logistic regression analysis
