Nomina Anatomica
The Nomina Anatomica (NA) was the standard lexicon of anatomic nomenclature from 1955 until 1998 when it was replaced by the new Terminologia Anatomica. The Nomina Anatomica was originally signed off by the Sixth International Congress of Anatomists held in Paris, France, in 1955, and became known as the Paris Nomenclature.
The Nomina Anatomica replaced several standard nomenclatures when it was first published. Foremost amongst these was the Basle Nomina Anatomica (BNA), which was originally published in 1895 , itself a culmination of the efforts of the Anatomical Society to standardize the anatomic lexicon which began in 1887 .
