Primary hypercoagulable states
Primary hypercoagulable states are those situations where patients have laboratory (genetic) abnormalities resulting in clinical conditions that are associated with an increased risk of thrombosis (prethrombotic states) or have recurrent thrombosis without recognisable predisposing factors (thrombosis-prone).
These patients are prone to recurrent venous thromboembolic events.
