Prostatic infarction refers to necrosis of the prostate gland tissue from a lack of blood supply.

Histology slices on biopsy specimens may show reactive atypia .
Causes
- prostatic artery embolization
- presumed pelvic ischemia after
- cross-clamping of the aorta for coronary or aortic surgery
- hypotensive myocardial infarction
- septic shock
Markers
PSA level may be elevated .
Radiographic features
MRI
Reported signal characteristics in the setting of post prostatic artery embolization include :
- T1: hyperintense
- T2: hypointense
