Prothese Interphalangealgelenk
Two-component
surface replacement implants compared with perichondrium transplantation for restoration of Metacarpophalangeal and proximal Interphalangeal joints: a retrospective cohort study with a mean follow-up time of 6 respectively 26 years. SBI implants at PIP level with different problems. The ring-finger was operated in 2012, and revised in 2015 as the distal component was changed and cemented. Subsequently the joint ended up ankylotic with bony overgrowth. The index and middle-finger were operated in 2016. This radiography from 2017 show signs of subsidence and deviation, especially in the index-finger which later had to be revised and cemented (both components). Only the middle-finger implant has survived without additional surgery
Novel implant
design of the proximal interphalangeal joint using an optimized rolling contact joint mechanism. Plain radiograph images and coordinate frames for the middle and proximal phalanges. a Three-dimensional model of the proposed proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ) in full extension and maximal forward flexion. b Kinematic design of the proposed PIPJ implant illustrating the rolling contact surfaces and shapes of the extensor tendon route
Novel implant
design of the proximal interphalangeal joint using an optimized rolling contact joint mechanism. A three-dimensional model of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ) using the rolling contact joint mechanism. a Contours of the proximal (green) and middle (blue) phalangeal bones and the base (Σb), proximal (Σp), and middle (Σm1) coordinate frames in full extension of the PIPJ. b The ith radiographic image and homogenous transformation (HT) matrices. c The average center of rotation (ACR) based on the HT matrices obtained from multiple radiographic images
Distal
interphalangeal hemiarthroplasty (ADIP): preliminary series of 14 cases. Figure 1
