right upper lobe bronchus
The right upper lobe bronchus is the first of two secondary bronchi produced by the bifurcation of the right main bronchus. The other is the bronchus intermedius.
Gross anatomy
The right upper lobe bronchus is given off approximately 2.5 cm from the bifurcation of the trachea and is the superior most of the secondary bronchi . It transverses the right hilum into the right upper lobe where it divides into three bronchopulmonary segments that supply the superior lobe of the right lung .
The right upper lobe segmental bronchi are :
- apical
- posterior
- anterior
The right upper lobe bronchus is also known as the eparterial bronchus, as it arises above the level of the right pulmonary artery outside of the hilum .
Blood supply
- right bronchial artery
Variant anatomy
- tracheal bronchus (pig bronchus variant)
