Roentgenogram (terminology)
The roentgenogram (or roentgenograph) remains a widely-used synonymous term in some parts of the world for the radiograph i.e. the permanent image produced by x-radiation.
It is not all surprising that for many scientists and early practitioners, the logical term to use for the images generated by the new x-rays (or Roentgen rays as many preferred to call them) was the roentgenogram (or roentgenograph) in honor of their discoverer. Initially the term was always capitalized. Interestingly Wilhelm Roentgen himself, in his characteristically modest fashion, suggested x-rays .
