scrotal cystocele

Scrotal cystoceles are a type of urinary bladder hernia, where the bladder herniates into the scrotum.

Clinical presentation

  • asymptomatic
  • voiding problems
  • scrotal swelling

Radiographic features

Ultrasound

Scrotal sac will contain fluid. Emptying of a scrotal cystocele with voiding is an important diagnostic feature. Inability to demonstrate communication between the bladder and scrotum on sonography does not exclude the diagnosis, the interconnecting channel may be completely decompressed and sonographically-occult. A mild beaking of the fluid-filled scrotum, towards the urinary bladder, may be the only evidence.
