TightRope OSG

A TightRope® syndesmosis fixation system refers a to a more recent technique for syndesmosis fixation for distal tibiofibular syndesmotic injuries.

This uses a non-absorbable fiber wire held between two or more cortical metal buttons at the medial and lateral aspects. It may or may not be used in conjunction with other internal fixator plates and screws.

Plain radiography

Often seen as two or more small button like plates / fixators on either side of the ankle (usually just above the malleoli) +/- a faint radiolucent tract extending between them.
