Zungenbeinfraktur
Hyoid bone fractures are rare and are most commonly associated with victims of strangulation and hanging. Occasionally it has been reported in trauma other than manual strangulation. It can sometimes be serious due to complications with asphyxia .
Classification
One described method is as
- inward compression fractures with outside periosteal tears
- antero-posterior compression fractures with inside periosteal tears
- avulsion fractures
