quadrangular space

The quadrangular space (or quadrilateral space) is one of three spaces located in the posterior compartment of the arm, along with the lateral triangular space and medial triangular space.

Gross anatomy

Boundaries

• medial: lateral border of the long head of the triceps brachii muscle
• lateral: medial cortex of the surgical neck of humerus
• superior: inferior border of the teres minor muscle
• inferior: superior border of the teres major muscle
• anterior: subscapularis muscle
• posterior: teres minor muscle 

Contents

• axillary nerve
• posterior circumflex humeral artery and vein
