Medial occipitotemporal gyrus
The medial occipitotemporal gyrus runs along the medial aspect of the temporal lobe and occipital lobe. It is formed by two gyri usually referred to separately; temporal (parahippocampal gyrus) and occipital (lingual gyrus). This is probably preferable to avoid confusion with the fusiform gyrus (also known as the temporo-occipital gyrus), which runs parallel and just lateral to the medial occipitotemporal gyrus, separated from it by the collateral sulcus .
