Tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis
Tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) arthrodesis is an orthopedic procedure fusing the tibiotalar and subtalar joints. It is usually performed with an intramedullary nail vertically inserted in a retrograde fashion through the plantar surface of the hindfoot across the subtalar and tibiotalar joints.
Indications
Severe arthritis involving the tibiotalar and subtalar joints due to:
- osteoarthritis
- post-traumatic arthritis
- post-infective arthritis
- talar avascular necrosis
- rheumatoid arthritis
- neuropathic arthropathy
- failed previous surgery
Complications
- infection
- non-union
