Seminal vesicle hypoplasia
Seminal vesicle hypoplasia is a congenital anomaly that refers to the underdevelopment of one or both seminal vesicles.
Epidemiology
Associations
All mesonephric duct maldevelopments may be observed:
- renal agenesis
- seminal vesicle agenesis
- seminal vesicle cysts
- congenital agenesis of the ductus deferens (CAVD)
- ejaculatory duct obstruction
- ejaculatory duct atresia
Clinical presentation
Patients may present with infertility, azoospermia and low‐volume ejaculate.
Radiographic features
Seminal vesicles hypoplasia has been defined on ultrasound as :
- seminal vesicle width <5 mm
- seminal vesicle length <22.5 mm
Calcifications of the hypoplastic seminal vesicle may be seen.
