Pulmonary lymphoproliferative disease refers to a diverse spectrum of conditions where there is an abnormal proliferation of indigenous cell lines or lung parenchymal infiltration by lymphoid cells. They can be focal or diffuse and may be classified as reactive or neoplastic on the basis of cellular morphology and clonality.
The spectrum includes:
- reactive (non-neoplastic) - see - non-lymphomatous pulmonary lymphoid disorders
- pulmonary nodular lymphoid hyperplasia - focal lymphoid hyperplasia of the lung
- follicular bronchiolitis
- lymphoid interstitial pneumonia
- pulmonary involvement in Castleman disease
- pulmonary involvement with plasma cell granuloma
- malignant
- pulmonary lymphoma
- primary pulmonary lymphoma
- primary pulmonary involvement in extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of MALT origin (MALT lymphoma)
- primary pulmonary involvement in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)
- pulmonary involvement in lymphomatoid granulomatosis
- acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related lymphoma (ARL)
- secondary pulmonary involvement with lymphoma
- primary pulmonary lymphoma
- pulmonary lymphoma
