Coronary artery calcification
Coronary artery calcification is a common incidental finding in asymptomatic patients having CT of the thorax for non-cardiac indications as well as being a significant finding on cardiac CT. Coronary artery calcification is a marker of atherosclerotic plaque and thus coronary artery disease risk. There are a number of scoring systems including :
- Agatston scoring
- calcium volume score
- calcium density score
- overall visual assessment
- segmented vessel-specific scoring
- calcium mass score
