Dural masses can be the result of a number of different tumors and conditions, although meningiomas are by far the most common. The differential of a dural mass includes:
- meningioma
- hemangiopericytoma
- primary dural lymphoma
- Rosai-Dorfman disease
- solitary fibrous tumor of the dura
- primary intracranial leiomyosarcoma (EBV-associated smooth muscle tumor)
- meningeal melanocytoma
- primary meningeal malignant melanoma
- Erdheim-Chester disease
- sarcoidosis
- metastases
