Ectopic meningioma

An ectopic meningioma (or primary ectopic meningioma) refers to rare situations where a meningioma arises outside the dura.

These can occur at various sites but usually occur in the head and neck region.

Reported sites include

• scalp skin
• ear and temporal bone
• sinonasal tract
• mandible
• orbit - primary orbital meningioma

Very rarely it can also arise outside the head and neck region such as

• lung - primary pulmonary meningioma
