Ethmoid mucocele
An ethmoid mucocele is a form of a paranasal sinus mucocele involving the ethmoid air cells. Depending on its anterior and/or posterior location, they can also include nasoethmoid and sphenoethmoid mucoceles. Ethmoid mucoceles are considered the second most commonest in location.
Clinical presentation
Usual asymptomatic but can occasionally give ocular symptoms and signs such as visual impairment, diplopia or proptosis.
Radiographic features
CT
Can be seen as a homogeneously attenuating expansile lesion involving one of the ethmoid air cells. Does not enhance with contrast and does not demonstrate destructive features (i.e outer bony margins smooth).
MRI
Signal characteristics are similar to that of other paranasal sinus mucoceles
