Gallbladder ghost triad
Gallbladder ghost triad is a term used on ultrasound studies when there is a combination of three gallbladder features on biliary atresia:
- atretic gallbladder, length less than 19 mm
- irregular or lobular contour
- lack of smooth/complete echogenic mucosal lining with an indistinct wall
The term gallbladder ghost was coined in 2003 by a Singaporean radiologist Anne Poh Ann Tan Kendrick (fl. 2019) because the gallbladder is so small and difficult to see in biliary atresia, like a ghost .
