Glisson's capsule

Glisson's capsule is the external fibrous layer that envelops liver lobules.​

Right upper quadrant pain can be caused by distension of Glisson's capsule . This can be caused by several processes, including a hematoma or a mass.

History and etymology

It is named after Francis Glisson (1597–1677), a British physician and anatomist.
