Hands
The hand is part of the upper limb below the forearm and wrist. In the supinated anatomical position, the palm is facing anteriorly and the dorsum posteriorly. The bones of the hand are:
- carpals (8)
- metacarpals (5)
- phalanges (13)
- thumb
- proximal and distal phalanges
- 2nd to 5th fingers
- proximal, middle and distal phalanges
- thumb
The wrist joint is superior. Hand movement is complex and occurs across many joints, including those involved in wrist flexion.
