Idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy

Idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy is a subtype of dilated cardiomyopathy. It is a type of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy where no underlying cause can be found.
Epidemiology
This form of cardiomyopathy may account for up to 50% of all dilated cardiomyopathies . Patients usually ranging around 20 and 60 years at time of presentation.
Radiographic features
MRI
Like other forms of dilated cardiomyopathy the cardiac chambers (especially the left ventricle is dilated).
Typically, like other forms of non-ischemic causes may show a lack of delayed hyperenhancement or isolated mid-wall enhancement in a distribution that does not follow that of a coronary artery territory.
