Intracranial pressure monitor
An intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor is a common neurosurgical procedure used to monitor raised intracranial pressure. A pressure transducer is inserted in the brain, usually a frontal lobe, which gives accurate and live pressures.
In the acute setting, the transducer is attached to the monitor that passes through a skull burr hole. These are removed when the patient neurologically improves.
Long term ICP monitors can be inserted such as a wireless device.
