male pseudohermaphroditism

Male pseudohermaphroditism (MPH) is a variation of gender development.

Pathology

Patients with male pseudohermaphroditism have 46 XY karyotype and may manifest as a female phenotype with various degrees of undervirilization secondary to partial androgen insensitivity.

Causes

• androgen insensitivity syndrome
• Leydig cell failure
• testosterone synthesis defects
• 5-alpha reductase deficiency
• persistent Mullerian duct syndrome
• testicular dysdenesis
• congenital anorchia

• persistent Mullerian duct syndrome
