Metatarsus adductus

Metatarsus adductus is a type of foot deformity where there is medial deviation of the first metatarsal +/- medial displacement of the metatarsals on the cuneiform.

Epidemiology

It is considered the most common congenital foot abnormality.

Pathology

It can be congenital or acquired.

Plain radiograph

Best assessed on a weightbearing dorsoplantar foot radiograph. The intermetatarsal angle is increased.
