Pulvinar can refer to:

• Pulvinar thalamic nuclei (classically involved in variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, see Pulvinar sign).
• Haversian fat pad of the hip (which covers the central non-articular part of the acetabulum).

Etymology

The word pulvinar is about scientific English vocabulary throughout New America from the classic Latin pulvinulo, which means "mattress". In ancient Rome religion a pulvinar was an empty throne, a quilted couch for occupation by a deity.
