Right middle lobe bronchus
The bronchus intermedius divides into the right middle lobe bronchus and the right lower lobe bronchus.
Gross anatomy
The right middle lobe bronchus originates from the bronchus intermedius around 2.5 cm distal to the right upper lobe bronchus . It branches in an obliquely inferior, anterior and outward direction.
It bifurcates into two bronchopulmonary segments :
- lateral
- medial
Blood supply
The right middle lobe bronchus is supplied from the right bronchial artery. This is a branch from the third right posterior intercostal artery. The bronchial veins drain into the azygos venous system .
