Sulcus paraglenoidalis


The Sulcus paraglenoidalis, preauricular groove or preauricular sulcus is a normal variant that is described to be characteristic of the bony female pelvis. It occurs at the insertion of the anterior sacroiliac ligament.
Epidemiology
The preauricular groove is present in ~25% of women and ~5% of men .
Radiographic features
The preauricular groove is in the inferior ilium adjacent to the sacro-iliac joint, and can vary from slightly concavity to a deep groove with overhanging edges .
