The celiacomesenteric trunk (CMT) represents an uncommon vascular anatomical variant where both the celiac trunk and the superior mesenteric artery have a common origin from the abdominal aorta as a single trunk. Its frequency has been reported to occur in about 1.5% of the population .
Four types of CMT were described early last century by Morita et al. :
A celiac-bimesenteric trunk, where the celiac trunk and superior and inferior mesenteric arteries all have a common origin, has been distinguished as an extremely rare variation with only a few cases reported .
