Fenestra vestibuli
The oval window (or fenestra vestibuli) is a kidney-shaped aperture in the medial wall of the mesotympanum of the middle ear, providing communication with the vestibule of the inner ear. The footplate of the stapes is attached to its rim by the annular ligament .
The variability of the size of the oval window in one human cadaveric study showed wide variation from 1.26 to 2.40 mm .
