A pedunculated intratracheal mass has a variety of differential diagnoses:

  • benign tumor, e.g. hamartoma, chrondroma, lipoma
  • hemangioma
  • inspissated mucus
  • metastasis to tracheal mucosa, e.g. renal cell carcinoma, melanoma
  • polyp, e.g. inflammatory, antrochoanal
  • papilloma
  • post-intubation tracheal granuloma in neonate
